Deaf home care services

Services

The services provided in the DHCS are personalized to fit the needs of the DHCS individuals.  This includes:

  • Homemaking - food planning & preparation, laundry, and household cleaning

  • Personal care - dressing, assisting with mobility and medication schedules

  • Companion services - reading, socialization activities, shopping, and transportation needs to medical/activities

  • Respite care

Hours of Services

The Deaf Home Care Services (DHCS) provides home care services for the Deaf elderly and home-bound who live in the metro St. Louis and St. Charles areas.

DHCS volunteers delivers the support, needs, and concerns of their elderly.  They enable the elderly to develop by strengthening skills so that they remain comfortable in their own home.  All of our volunteers are taught through DHCS training programs and have skills in using American Sign Language or Total Communications toward their individuals.

We welcome all Deaf/Hard of hearing individuals, regardless of creed, race, gender, sexual orientation, disabilities, or economic status.

Accomdations are based on availability of caregivers and DCC office hours.  Most of our caregivers are available up to three hours daily - Monday through Friday during 9am to 5pm.

Individual:

If you are interested in obtaining our home care services, you may contact our DHCS chairperson at DCC office 314-222-0041.  Applications for Individuals will be inquired to receive their personalized plan that our caregivers can accommodate.  

Caregiver:

If you are interested to volunteer as a caregiver, you may contact our DHCS chairperson at DCC office 314-222-0041.  Applications for caregiver will be considered and go through DHCS training program to fit the home care needs of each individual. Hours are accompanied to fit everyone's needs.
